{"id":1151,"date":"2016-06-27T01:02:40","date_gmt":"2016-06-27T01:02:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1151"},"modified":"2016-06-28T02:04:12","modified_gmt":"2016-06-28T02:04:12","slug":"the-death-of-a-dream-and-the-hope-confident-assurance-of-his-calling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1151","title":{"rendered":"The Death of a Dream and the Hope (confident assurance) of His Calling"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>When we pray, we often have an outcome in mind that we want God to bring about. \u00a0Our outcome however, is not necessarily what God has in mind. \u00a0It is not difficult to figure out whose outcome is best.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When I was a young believer, I had a vision or dream as to how I would serve the Lord throughout my life. \u00a0I would get a Doctorate degree and teach on the college level in a Christian environment. That was my dream. \u00a0It\u00a0did not happen.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>God created a sinless Adam and Eve and placed them in a perfect environment with instructions as to what to eat and what not to eat. \u00a0They disobeyed. \u00a0They fell. \u00a0There were consequences! \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But God&#8230;&#8230;knowing the end from the beginning, sent forth His Son, the Lamb of God, slain before the foundation of the world to redeem us from the penalty of our sin.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I used to say that I did not want to live my life over again, because I was afraid that when I came again to the cross roads of decision, I might not trust Christ the second time through. \u00a0I didn&#8217;t trust myself to make the right decision a second time.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A wise person heard me say that and reminded me that I did not find Him, He found me. \u00a0I did not seek Him, He sought me. \u00a0I did not choose Him, He chose me&#8230;&#8230;..failures, shortcomings and all!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Who fails God? \u00a0We do. \u00a0Who chooses the place of our calling, knowing full well what lay ahead? \u00a0God does! \u00a0Praise His name!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Knowing that God is sovereign and that He is in control of all things, good or bad, enables us to yield and accept His will even when it is not what we expected. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The death of a believer&#8217;s dream or vision is simply the closing of a door. \u00a0It is the narrowing down of our choices. \u00a0It is one less thing with which we need to concern ourselves. \u00a0It is God giving us direction.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Note: \u00a0Disobedience and bad decisions have consequences and the thoughts expressed above were not written to minimize those consequences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The death of a dream can be painful and the pain is not soon forgotten, whether it is due to disobedience, bad decision making, \u00a0or just not being God&#8217;s will.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>The outcome that matters is not necessarily what we dream of or envision for God. \u00a0The outcome that matters is God&#8217;s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When we pray, we often have an outcome in mind that we want God to bring about. \u00a0Our outcome however, is not necessarily what God has in mind. \u00a0It is not difficult to figure out whose outcome is best.
