{"id":1523,"date":"2017-04-16T04:05:55","date_gmt":"2017-04-16T04:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1523"},"modified":"2017-04-30T03:41:53","modified_gmt":"2017-04-30T03:41:53","slug":"peters-failure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1523","title":{"rendered":"Peter&#8217;s Failure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Have you and I ever promised the Lord some great thing and then failed Him in it? \u00a0Peter did. \u00a0His story of failure is tucked in and around the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The wonderful thing about this account is that the Lord Jesus knew everything about Peter before He called him. \u00a0He knew Peter&#8217;s frame. \u00a0Messiah Jesus knew that Peter would deny Him at that critical moment. \u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>We have to ask ourselves; did it end their relationship? \u00a0Did the Lord cross Peter off the list? \u00a0Did He say; I told you so?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Mark&#8217;s Gospel is the only account that records the Lord&#8217;s tender acknowledgement to Peter by way of the angel at the empty tomb&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;&#8230;.read on!<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Scene I<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And when they had sung an hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And Jesus saith unto them, <span class=\"jesus\">All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep shall be scattered.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span class=\"jesus\">But after that I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>But Peter said unto him, Although all shall be offended, yet will not I.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And Jesus saith unto him, <span class=\"jesus\">Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>But he (Peter) spake the more vehemently, If I should die with thee, I will not deny thee in any wise. <\/strong><\/em><\/span><strong>\u00a0Mark 14:26-31<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Scene II<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And as Peter was beneath in the palace, there cometh one of the maids of the high priest:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And when she saw Peter warming himself, she looked upon him, and said, And thou also wast with Jesus of Nazareth.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">But he denied, saying, I know not, neither understand I what thou sayest.<\/span> \u00a0And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This is one of them.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">he denied it again<\/span>. \u00a0And a little after, they that stood by said again to Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth thereto.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em><strong>But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom ye speak.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And the second time the cock crew. \u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">And Peter called to mind the word that Jesus said unto him,<\/span> <span class=\"jesus\">Before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny me thrice.<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">And when he thought thereon, he wept<\/span>.<\/strong><\/em> \u00a0<strong>Mark 14:66-72<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>Scene III<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And when the sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And very early in the morning the first day of the week, they came unto the sepulchre at the rising of the sun.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very great.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment;
