{"id":1942,"date":"2018-04-29T23:23:59","date_gmt":"2018-04-29T23:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1942"},"modified":"2018-05-02T02:17:07","modified_gmt":"2018-05-02T02:17:07","slug":"hidden-treasures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=1942","title":{"rendered":"Hidden Treasures"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>When I study Scripture, I am constantly asking what does this word or phrase mean?\u00a0 For example, Ephesians 5 talks about <em>being filled with the Spirit<\/em>, but instead of defining what it means to be filled with the Spirit in Ephesians 5, Paul gives characteristics of one who is being filled with the Spirit.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>In the book of Proverbs, much is written about wisdom and understanding, but wisdom and understanding are not clearly defined in Proverbs.\u00a0 We are just told to get wisdom and to get understanding.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Psalm 37:4 says;<\/strong><em><strong> Delight thyself also in the Lord and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><strong>What does it mean to delight oneself in the Lord?\u00a0 How do I do that?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>In John 6 Jesus is the bread of life<\/strong><strong>.\u00a0<\/strong><em><strong> He says to the Pharisees; <span class=\"jesus\">Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"jesus\">Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. (John 6:53&amp;54)\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em><strong><span class=\"jesus\">What does this mean?\u00a0 How can we eat His flesh and drink His blood!?\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>At times the Scripture appears to be speaking in riddles by saying; this is what you need to have and this is what it looks like.\u00a0 The Scripture also teaches that\u00a0<\/strong><strong>if you search for it, you will find it!\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The wonderful thing about\u00a0studying and searching the Scriptures is that somewhere in Scripture, the riddles are defined.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom,\u00a0and\u00a0apply thine heart to understanding;\u00a0Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,\u00a0and\u00a0liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as\u00a0for\u00a0hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.\u00a0 For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth\u00a0cometh\u00a0knowledge and understanding.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>P<\/strong><\/em><strong>rov. 2:1-6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Being filled<\/em> or controlled by the Spirit is defined in the parallel passage of Colossians chapter 3 as<em> letting the word of Christ dwell in you richly<\/em>.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Wisdom and understanding are clearly defined in Job 28:28.\u00a0 <em>And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that\u00a0is\u00a0wisdom; and to depart from evil\u00a0is\u00a0understanding.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Isaiah explains what it means to delight in the Lord; &#8230;&#8230;<em>.honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking\u00a0thine own\u00a0words:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; <\/em>\u00a0Isaiah 58:13b&amp;14a<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Jesus explains His statement concerning eating His flesh and drinking His blood a few verses later in John 6;<\/strong><em><strong> Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard\u00a0this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em><strong>When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them,\u00a0<span class=\"jesus\">Doth this offend you?<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span class=\"jesus\">The Lord continues<\/span><\/strong><em><strong><span class=\"jesus\">;
