IS BAPTISM FOR ME?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.\u00a0<\/em> <\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Acts 8:37<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:<\/em>\u00a0 Acts 2:41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Sirs, what must I do to be saved?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed\u00a0their\u00a0stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.\u00a0<\/em> Acts 16:30-33<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

CONCLUSION: Baptism is for believers only.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Commanded by Christ<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Matthew 28:19<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Christ our example.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.\u00a0 Matthew 3:13<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

3.\u00a0 Believer shows obedience<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:<\/em>\u00a0 Acts 2:41<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

CONCLUSION: We are baptized to obey the command of Jesus Christ.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\n

HOW SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Baptism by immersion pictures our position with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.\u00a0 Romans 6:3-5\u00a0 <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Baptism is with water.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

John answered them, saying, I baptize with water:\u00a0 John 1:26<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Baptism is by immersion (under the water).\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0Jesus was baptized of John in Jordan.\u00a0 Mark 1:9<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

And straightway coming up out of the water… Mark 1:10<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

…….they went down both into the water…..Acts 8:38<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

CONCLUSION: Only baptism by immersion pictures the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

WHEN SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Following salvation.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

….when they believed……..they were baptized……Acts 8:12<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

……and the eunuch said, See,\u00a0here is\u00a0water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?\u00a0 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.\u00a0 Acts 8:36-37<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added\u00a0unto them\u00a0about three thousand souls.\u00a0 Acts 2:41<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

CONCLUSION: Baptism follows salvation, immediately, if possible.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

WHAT IF I REFUSE TO BE BAPTIZED?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Disobedience:\u00a0Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth\u00a0it\u00a0not, to him it is sin.\u00a0 James 4:17<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Loss of testimony:\u00a0If ye continue in my word,\u00a0then\u00a0are ye my disciples indeed;\u00a0 John 8:31<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Loss of fellowship:\u00a0Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.\u00a0 John 15:14<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
