{"id":2679,"date":"2019-10-20T23:20:47","date_gmt":"2019-10-20T23:20:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=2679"},"modified":"2020-08-22T19:21:09","modified_gmt":"2020-08-22T19:21:09","slug":"a-mans-love-for-his-dog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=2679","title":{"rendered":"A Man&#8217;s Love for His Dog"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u00a0I remember as a fifth grader crying over Mitsy when she died.\u00a0 Mitsy was a three-legged black cocker spaniel who was my play-mate and rabbit hunting companion.\u00a0 I was a child then, but I have come to know men who have also wept over their dead or dying dogs.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">I can remember sitting in the snow as a grown man, weeping beside Lady&#8217;s doghouse, with my hand on her still warm but dying body.\u00a0 Lady was our family dog.\u00a0 She was also my dog.\u00a0 She was an extremely intelligent, beautiful, black Labrador who was devoted to me.\u00a0 I picked her from the litter of pups and it seemed as if she never forgot that.\u00a0 When she died, it broke my heart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>I weep easily, but I think most men don&#8217;t.\u00a0 I have often said that when God squeezes my heart, tears come out of my eyes.\u00a0 Every good gift comes down from above, including the faithful companion that a dog can\u00a0be.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">In our culture, seeing a weeping man may be startling or even embarrassing to many.\u00a0 So, why do grown men cry over their dying dogs when nothing else on earth seems to move them?\u00a0 Why will a stoic, unemotional, unmovable man allow the death of his dog to make him so vulnerable?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>I think it is the unconditional love, faithfulness and loyalty that a man finds in this four-legged creature known as man&#8217;s best friend.\u00a0 Everyone craves this kind of love, but very few find it.\u00a0 When a man discovers unconditional love in his temporary relationship with his dog, a man&#8217;s heart tends to break<\/strong><strong>\u00a0when it ends.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Someone reading this right now is probably asking; Surely the writer is not going to compare God&#8217;s love to a dog&#8217;s love!?\u00a0 No, there is no comparison.\u00a0 God&#8217;s love is unfathomable, and it is permanent for those who trust Christ as their only hope of salvation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>We might however, consider comparing our love for God to a dog&#8217;s love for his master.\u00a0 Makes us look bad, doesn&#8217;t it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If ye love me,\u00a0keep\u00a0my\u00a0commandments.\u00a0<\/em> John 14:15<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em><strong>&#8230;let the word of Christ dwell in you richly&#8230;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0I remember as a fifth grader crying over Mitsy when she died.\u00a0 Mitsy was a three-legged black cocker spaniel who was my play-mate and rabbit hunting companion.\u00a0 I was a child then, but I have come to know men who have also wept over their dead or dying dogs.\u00a0 I can remember sitting in the &hellip;
