{"id":3,"date":"2014-07-13T22:12:41","date_gmt":"2014-07-13T22:12:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=3"},"modified":"2021-10-31T20:32:00","modified_gmt":"2021-10-31T20:32:00","slug":"for-christian-husbands-only","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=3","title":{"rendered":"For Christian Husbands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>How does a Christian husband, who is supposed to be the spiritual leader in his home, submit to his wife?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">One of the characteristics of a Spirit filled believer, found in Ephesians 5:18-21 is;\u00a0<em>submitting to one another in the fear of God.\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0What does that look like from the husband&#8217;s perspective in a Christian marriage?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>The verses following verse 21 lists: wives, husbands, children, fathers, bondservants (employees) and masters (employers) with an explanation to each of them on <em>submitting to one another in the fear of God.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Under husbands, there are three word pictures that God gives us to illustrate what a husband&#8217;s submission to his wife looks like:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li>Love her as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.<\/li>\n<li>Love her as you love your own body.<\/li>\n<li>Love her as you love yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Suggested exercises:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li><strong>Make a list of the characteristics of Christ&#8217;s love for the church.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Make a list of the characteristics of your love and care for your own body.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Make a list of the characteristics of your love for yourself (how you like to be treated as a person).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">After making each list, spend some time meditating on how to make those characteristics the characteristics of your relationship with your wife.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Place these lists in your Bible and periodically review and revise or add to them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Share what you&#8217;ve learned with someone else.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Note:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<li><strong>To demonstrate God&#8217;s love one must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. \u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Biblical submission recognizes God&#8217;s order and His authority.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>God&#8217;s love will be exhibited by a Christian walking in the Spirit.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Never focus on what the spouse should be doing, deal with self!<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8230;let the word of Christ dwell (take up its life) in you richly&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How does a Christian husband, who is supposed to be the spiritual leader in his home, submit to his wife?
