The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

O LORD, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!\u00a0even\u00a0cry out unto thee\u00a0of\u00a0violence, and thou wilt not save!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause\u00a0me\u00a0to behold grievance?\u00a0 for spoiling and violence\u00a0are\u00a0before me: and there are\u00a0that\u00a0raise up strife and contention.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for\u00a0I\u00a0will work a work in your days,\u00a0which\u00a0ye will not believe, though it be told\u00a0you.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans,\u00a0that\u00a0bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwelling places\u00a0that are\u00a0not theirs.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

They\u00a0are\u00a0terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle\u00a0that\u00a0hasteth to eat.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up\u00a0as\u00a0the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Then shall\u00a0his\u00a0mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend,\u00a0imputing\u00a0this his power unto his god.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Art\u00a0thou not from everlasting, O LORD my God, mine Holy One?\u00a0 we shall not die. O LORD, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Thou art\u00a0of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously,\u00a0and\u00a0holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth\u00a0the man that is\u00a0more righteous than he?\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things,\u00a0that have\u00a0no ruler over them?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion\u00a0is\u00a0fat, and their meat plenteous.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he (God) will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make\u00a0it\u00a0plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>For the vision\u00a0is\u00a0yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Behold, his soul\u00a0which\u00a0is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
