The Church<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Church: one true church, the body and bride of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23; 5:25-32), composed of all true believers of the present age (1 Corinthians 12:12-13) and the organization of its members in local churches for worship, for edification of believers and for worldwide gospel witness; each local church being autonomous but cooperating in fellowship and work (Ephesians 4:11-16).<\/strong><\/p>\n

His Body:\u00a0And hath put all\u00a0things\u00a0under his (Jesus) feet, and gave him (Jesus)\u00a0to be\u00a0the head over all\u00a0things\u00a0to the church, which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Ephesians 1:22-23<\/p>\n

His Bride:<\/strong>\u00a0Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;\u00a0That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,\u00a0That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.\u00a0\u00a0For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:\u00a0For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.\u00a0\u00a0For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.\u00a0\u00a0Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife\u00a0see\u00a0that she reverence\u00a0her\u00a0husband.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Ephesians 5:25-32<\/strong><\/p>\n

His Members:\u00a0For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also\u00a0is\u00a0Christ.\u00a0For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether\u00a0we be\u00a0Jews or Gentiles, whether\u00a0we be\u00a0bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>I Corinthians 12:12-13<\/p>\n

His Gifts: And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;\u00a0For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:\u00a0Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

His Purpose: That we\u00a0henceforth\u00a0be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men,\u00a0and\u00a0cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;\u00a0But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head,\u00a0even\u00a0Christ:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Ephesians 4:11-16<\/strong><\/p>\n
