{"id":984,"date":"2016-03-26T15:33:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-26T15:33:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=984"},"modified":"2016-03-27T03:33:53","modified_gmt":"2016-03-27T03:33:53","slug":"in-over-my-head","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadinghorsestowater.net\/?p=984","title":{"rendered":"In Over My Head"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><em>There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. \u00a0For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.<\/em> Psalm 38:3 &amp; 4 \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I grew up in a rural area of the Midwest. \u00a0Most of my swimming as \u00a0a kid was done in farm ponds or a local creek, if there was enough water running during the hot summer months. \u00a0We learned to swim however, in the city swimming pools. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>During a predetermined week in the early summer the local school district would provide a school bus and driver to haul the country kids to a city swimming pool for lessons. \u00a0Since it was done in early summer, the mornings could be very cool and overcast, resulting in many blue lips and giant goosebumps.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After a morning of swimming we were always ravenously hungry. \u00a0I remember kids consuming paper grocery bags full of popcorn and whatever else was available on the way home from swimming lessons.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The one thing that always sticks out in my mind from swimming lessons is how close I came one morning to drowning. \u00a0Actually, it was quite uneventful. \u00a0I seriously doubt that anyone else remembers the incident; not even the kid that saved me.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brimming with confidence, this particular morning, I jumped with-out hesitation into a section of water that was over my head. \u00a0I surfaced coughing, sputtering and struggling to stay afloat just out of reach of the edge of the pool. \u00a0I was in over my head.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fortunately for me, a schoolmate friend was sitting on the edge of the pool. \u00a0He calmly extended his arm, I grabbed his hand and he pulled me to safety. \u00a0It was a simple life saving action on his part, the magnitude of which he probably has never realized. \u00a0As a matter of fact I didn&#8217;t realize the impact of what he did until reflecting upon it as an adult. \u00a0I was just always glad he was there.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The opening verse above from Psalms says; <em>my iniquities are gone over my head. \u00a0<\/em>Iniquity is sin. \u00a0Unless you and I are rescued from our iniquity, we will perish. \u00a0We are in over our head. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonah cried out from the belly of the whale; <em>Salvation is of the Lord! <\/em>When he was in over his head, Jonah cried unto the Lord and was delivered from certain death. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We need to be delivered from spiritual death. \u00a0The Lord Jesus is within reach and\u00a0<\/strong><strong>He is reaching for you. \u00a0Will you trust Him? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For the Scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. \u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved<\/em> (Romans 10:9-13).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>In my distress I cried unto the Lord and He heard me<\/em> (Psalm 120:1). <\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. \u00a0For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
