We breathe in to live. When God breathes out He gives life.
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7
The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. Job 33:4
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Psalm 33:6
All scripture is given by inspiration of God (theopneustia – God breathed), and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: II Timothy 3:16
For the word of God is quick (living), and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Hebrews 4:12
And when he (Jesus) had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22
Why?
That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:12-14
…let the word of Christ dwell (take up its life) in you richly…
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.
Breathe on me, Breath of God,
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.
